Let us Welcome SPRING, Ostara, the Return of Light and our Red Root Chakra which connects with Mother Earth spinning with a frequency of : 194.18 Hz.(Chakra Platonic) – 396 Hz.(Sofeggio) – 256 Hz (Carrier Wave) ;Musical Note: “C” ; Musical Scale/solfeggio Tone: “do” (doh)
Our roots to the Earth are vital to our well being and our connection to her seasons go deep. “The Vernal Equinox, today, March 20th, is one of only two such magical times of the year where night and day are precisely balanced; the wheel of the year is sliced in half. Only on the equinox does the equator, the point of solar termination on Earth, line up with the Sun, creating this vortex of energy, this point of balance.
When you celebrate the Equinox, you connect to all of our ancestors who have participated in ritual and ceremony on this occasion for millennia: The native pre-Christian Germanic tribes of northern Europe worshipped a goddess of spring called Ostara. The Saxon tribes of old Britain called her Oestre. Her feast day was held on the full moon following the Vernal Equinox, much like the modern Easter. In Western tradition we see ‘Easter eggs,’ which date back to ancient times, as a symbol of fertility and rebirth. In Persia, eggs were painted and colored for 1,500 years as part of the spring celebration of No Ruz, a tradition of the Zoroastrian New Year on the Vernal Equinox.
All around the world, ancient and indigenous cultures have rituals, feasts, and celebrations of the Vernal Equinox. Ancient Roman followers of the goddess Cybele believed she had a consort who died and was resurrected on this day. The ancient Mayans have celebrated this event for ten centuries; as the sun sets on the day of the equinox, the western face of the Mayan pyramid El Castillo is fully bathed in sunlight, and is designed to work with the lengthening shadows, giving the appearance of a diamondback snake descending down the wall. ” (Athena)
This is a GREAT day to celebrate bringing the energy of light, hope, fertility, growth, and new beginnings.

AROMAS : immerse your sense of smell in a grounding ‘Spring Woodland Blend” of Essential Oils: 50 drops Balsam fir, 20 drops Vetiver, 10 drops Wintergreen and 10 drops Bergamot into a 5ml bottle. Diffuse with your intentions to feel safe and in harmony with the Earth.
To apply behind ears, at base of spine, on feet bottoms, over heart, on wrists, base of neck, or temples, mix the above with 1 oz of jojoba oil
If you are more into ‘Equinox Flower Garden’ fragrances than the woodland scene, try blending 30 drops lavender, 20 drops Jasmine, 20 drops Ylang Ylang, 20 drops hyssop, 6 drop Elemi, and 6 drops of Geranium to diffuse. To apply to skin, mix with 1 oz jojoba oil. I put my blends in a roll-on bottle and keep it handy all day. I also code the top of the bottle with a sticker matching the color of the chakra it goes with so I don’t have to read them all in the mornings.
Essential Oil blends sure beat the petrochemical commercial perfumes and air fresheners as over 60% of what comes in connect with our skin, the largest organ on our body, gets absorbed into our blood stream! And unlike our insides where our kidneys and liver act as filters, our skin is all on its own with no one to protect it except diligently caring SELVES. 95% of the chemicals in most commercial fragrances are synthetic compounds derived from petroleum and natural gas, known as petrochemicals. On average, 80% of fragrance formulations are comprised of these chemicals and in some cases, 100% of a formula can be synthetic. Skin absorbs these man-made chemicals in a few ways: by direct application, by contact with fragranced items, and by exposure to air containing fragrances and these can accumulate in our body organs.
SO why not use naturally occurring, invigorating Essential Oils of Nature?!
LIGHTS: Soy (no petrochemical paraffin waxes) candles in Lavender, Spring green and yellow.
Begin by taking a moment to focus on the air around you. Inhale deeply, and see if you can smell the change in the seasons. Depending on where you live, the air may have an earthy aroma, or a rainy one, or even smell like green grass.
Sense the shift in energy as the Wheel of the Year has turned. Light the green candle, to symbolize the blossoming earth. As you light it, say:
The Wheel of the Year turns once more,
and the vernal equinox arrives.
Light and dark are equal,
and the soil begins to change.
The earth awakes from its slumber,
and new life springs forth once more.
Next, light the yellow candle, representing the sun. As you do so, say:
The sun radiates ever closer to us,
greeting the earth with its welcoming rays.
Light and dark are equal,
and the sky fills with light and warmth.
The sun warms the land beneath our feet,
and gives life to all in its path.
Finally, light the purple candle. This one represents the Divine in our lives — whether you call it a god or a goddess, whether you identify it by name or simply as a universal life force, this is the candle which stands for all the things we do not know, all those things we cannot understand, but that are the sacred in our daily lives. As you light this candle, focus on the Divine around and within you. Say:
Spring has come! For this, we are thankful!
The Divine is present all around,
in the cool fall of a rain storm,
in the tiny buds of a flower,
in the down of a newborn chick,
in the fertile fields waiting to be planted,
in the sky above us,
and in the earth below us.
We thank the universe* for all it has to offer us,
and are so blessed to be alive on this day.
Welcome, life! Welcome, light! Welcome, spring!
Take a moment and meditate on the three flames before you and what they symbolize. Consider your own place within these three things — the earth, the sun, and the Divine. How do you fit into the grand scheme of things? How do you find balance between light and dark in your own life?
YOGA: How about a budding blooming, leafing TREE POSE?! A SPRING Tree Pose–oh so RADIANT and alive and energetically brimming with the juices of life! Visualize your favorite Spring tree as you firmly plant your entire left foot onto your mat or barefoot on the ground and bring your right foot up into tree pose. Keep your hip points squarely ahead and your toes tucked in as you place your foot anywhere on your leg besides your knee. Be creative and make your tree pose your own. Place your right leg into half lotus or engage your core and reach your arms overhead, keeping the base of your neck soft and your elbows straight as you rotate the pinky side of your hands in to engage your triceps. Most importantly, feel supported and connected to the earth as you hold your tree pose for 5 to 8 breaths before switching sides—-
Visualize yourself the essence of a flower you love. Picture your tightly formed bud deep in the earth. Feel the cold damp earth around you. After a pause, Feel the faintest movement. This is especially powerful at noon, when the sun is at its highest point in the sky, as well as the specific hour of equinox which varies by geographic location. In your time outside, take a moment to center yourself, grounding into the Earth, breathing in the renewing and balancing energy that abounds on this day.
