Saturday correlates with the Violet colored energy center known as the crown chakra —it relates to consciousness as pure awareness. It is our connection to the greater world beyond, to a timeless, spaceless place of all-knowing. When developed, this chakra brings us knowledge, wisdom, understanding, spiritual connection, and bliss.

Positive: The Guru–Gurus are people who realize who they are. Negative: The Egotist—-Egotists are people who think their efforts alone carry them through life. They believe that they are separate from a greater whole of existence and that their striving and effort controls the outcome of their life.

AROMAS:  Frankincense and sandalwood are probably the two essential oils most frequently identified with the crown chakra. Both promote meditative states, encourage higher states of consciousness, expand the crown chakra, support spiritual connection and growth. Sandalwood encourages astral projection. Frankincense expands the aura and helps awaken one’s spiritual or soul purpose. Frankincense also works on physical manifestations of crown chakra dysfunction such as anxiety, restlessness, nervous tension and stress-related conditions.

DIFFUSING-It is pleasant to have homemade essential oil diffusers in various places in your environment  to infuse your space with a continuous and subtle scent.  Many  packaged diffusers often contain unnatural ingredients that we don’t necessarily want diffused around the house along with the scent.To skip the unwanted ingredients and the expense, try making your own oil diffuser using an essential oil of your choosing. Or, experiment with combining oils for a highly-personalized scent — just be sure to test out the combination by adding a drop or two of each of the oils to a cotton ball to make sure the blend is appealing to you.

You will need a container with a wide base and a small opening , as it will discourage evaporation; reeds (health, online or craft stores  carry reeds); Safflower or Mineral oil (Mineral oil less viscous than vegetable oil and is better at carrying the scent up the reeds); Plain  unflavored, nondiluted vodka( helps thin out the oil so that it will move more easily up the reeds); Essential oil(s).
Pour one-quarter cup mineral oil and two tablespoons vodka into a measuring cup and stir well to combine the liquids.  Add in one and one-half tablespoons of essential oil (the ratio should be about one part essential oil to four parts mineral oil and vodka).
Stir well and pour the oil mixture into your container. Insert as many reeds as will fit into the opening.
Flip the reeds every few days to optimize the scent diffusion.  Each time you you are mindful of the scent repeat an affirmation: “I AM….”

MEDITATION:  Sitting in half lotus or Full Lotus position chant **Nam-myoho-renge-kyo**
The purpose of chanting this phrase is to attain perfect and complete awakening (enlightenment).

Nam Myōhō Renge Kyō, represents devotion or conviction in the Mystic Law of Life, God, or Universal Source.    Some followers of Buddhism also consider Myōhō Renge Kyō to be the name of the ultimate law permeating the universe.
Broken down, Myōhō Renge Kyō consists of Myōhō (妙法), “sublime,” “unfathomable” or “mystic” law

YOGA
As we move up the ladder, the higher chakras are more affected by mediation and inner work rather than physical work, but here are two basic asanas, or poses:

Tree Pose: Start with Mountain pose, keep the feet hip width apart. Extend your spine tall and fix your gaze forward at a focal point. Breathe in and lift the right leg and place the sole of your right foot on the left leg, inner thigh. The heel of the right leg should touch the perineum otherwise, can rest on the thigh, or even on the calf initially. Lifting the torso upwards, take a deep breath & raise the arms up, joining the hands in Namaste mudra. If you can, take your gaze upwards towards the ceiling. Stay here for 5 to 7 breaths and repeat on the other side. Why to: A restorative and a balancing pose, the position of the arms and gaze taps into the energies of the crown chakra. The position of the body, works from root to the tip of the head, by aligning the chakras in a string. Also, rejuvenating the mind, it strengths the whole body.

Corpse Pose How to: Lying on your back, lift your pelvis and slide your tailbone away to comfortably spread your lower back. Keep just a light, natural arch to your lower back. Rest your pelvis on the ground. Place both the feet and the arms 3 to 4 feet apart with palms facing the ceiling. For extended support one can place a yoga blanket, cushion or pillow underneath the calves to relax the lower back. Now, close your eyes and take a slow deep breath. As you exhale, let your body relax and sink into the floor. Maintain stillness as you relax and quiet the mind. Completely loosen the whole body, like your body is sinking in the floor. Stay here for as long as you like. Why to: This pose gets its name from the posture of a dead body. It requires the stillness of a corpse, which makes it a challenging one. It helps in the repair of tissues and cells and in releasing stress. Savasana helps to calm and balance the crown chakra.

OSHO: Chapter 5: In the Litter of the Wayside
“A sannyasin is a plant, a sprout-soft, delicate. The seed is never in danger, remember. What danger can there be for the seed? It is absolutely protected. But the plant is always in danger, the plant is very soft. The seed is like a stone, hard, hidden behind a hard crust. But the plant has to pass through a thousand and one hazards. That is the second stage; the seed dissolving into the soil, the man disappearing as an ego, disappearing as a personality, becoming a plant.
The third possibility, which is even more rare, because not all plants are going to attain to that height where they can bloom into flowers, a thousand and one flowers. Very few human beings attain to the second stage, and very few of those who attain the second stage attain the third, the stage of the flower. Why can’t they attain the third stage, the stage of the flower? Because of greed, because of miserliness, they are not ready to share because of a state of unlovingness.
Courage is needed to become a plant, and love is needed to become a flower. A flower means the tree is opening up its heart, releasing its perfume, giving its soul, pouring its being into existence. The seed can become a plant although it is difficult to drop the armor, but in one way it is simple. The seed will only be gathering more and more, accumulating more and more; the seed  only takes from the soil. The tree only takes from the water, from the air, from the sun; its greed is not disturbed, on the contrary, its ambition is fulfilled. It goes on becoming bigger and bigger. But a moment comes when you have taken so much that now you have to share. You have been benefitted so much, now you have to serve. God has given you so much, now you have to thank, be grateful-and the only way to be grateful is to shower your treasures, give them back to existence, be as unmiserly as existence has been with you. Then the tree grows into flowers, it blossoms.
And the fourth stage is that of fragrance. The flower is still gross, it is still material, but the fragrance is subtle, it is almost something nonmaterial. You cannot see it, it is invisible. You can only smell it, you cannot break it, you cannot grasp it. A very sensitive understanding is needed to have a dialogue with the fragrance. And beyond fragrance there is nothing. The fragrance disappears into the universe, becomes one with it.
These are the four states of the seed, and these are the four stages of man too. Don’t remain a seed. Gather courage-courage to drop the ego, courage to drop the securities, courage to drop the safeties, courage to be vulnerable. But then don’t remain a tree, because a tree without flowers is poor. A tree without flowers is empty, a tree without flowers is missing something very essential. It has no beauty-without love there is no beauty. And it is only through flowers that the tree shows its love. It has taken so much from the sun and the moon and from the earth; now it is time to give!
Life has to attain a balance always. You have taken so much, now give it. Become a flower! Only when you become a flower is there a possibility of disappearing as a fragrance. But then too, remember, don’t remain a closed flower, don’t remain a bud; otherwise your fragrance will not be released. And unless your fragrance is released, you are not free, you are in a bondage.”

AROMAS:Heart-yang  deficiency needs an oil that awakens the spirit, for instance jasmine, petitgrain, peppermint, myrrh, rose and frankincense………

Sandalwood  has a calming, harmonizing effect and takes away fears and anxiety. It is indicated for hot, agitated emotional states that lead to headaches, insomnia and nervous exhaustion. It is also bitter and astringent, and useful for removing problems of a hot, inflammatory and catarrhal nature. It can be used in all healing work and connects all the chakras one with the other. It connects us to the earth whilst providing health for the mind and consciousness. It settles anxiety, brings self-esteem and opens the heart to receiving healing energy. Yogis describe sandalwood as ‘oil that has a fragrance of the subtle body and the centre of highest insight and enlightenment’

MEDITATION:

Chant Meditation:
The Heart Chakra (Anahata) as our energy point of love and compassion is located  physically just behind the heart area. This chakra can be incredibly powerful when used as a focus for meditation.

Sit cross-legged. Let the tips of your index finger and thumb touch. Put your left hand on your left knee and your right hand in front of the lower part of your breast bone (so a bit above the solar plexus).
Concentrate on the Heart chakra at the spine, level with the heart.
Chant the sound YAM.

YOGA:

Why do we practice? To understand the essence of the Self, to unpack the layers of this Truth. There is no end, just as there is no beginning. Every breath, every muscular integration, each moment of physical and mental connection opens new channels towards understanding. We practice to become intimate with our nature. Sequence:
1.Down Facing Dog,

2.Low Lunge. From Downward-Facing Dog , step your right foot forward. Gently release your left knee to the floor and reach the arms up into a Low Lunge. Square your hips toward the front end of your mat. Bring your left hand to your left hip, reaching your right arm up. You may stay here or slide your left hand down the inner left leg as your curl your spine back, in, and up to open the heart into a deeper backbend. Next, actively press your left hand into your inner right leg and as the leg and hand resist each other you will feel stronger and avoid sinking into the low back. Isometrically, hug your left knee and right foot in toward each other, this will lift the pelvic floor and help you draw your low belly in and up. Finally press down through your right foot and let the heart fly up a little more. Spend 5 breaths here. change sides

4. High Lunge with Shoulder Opener From Downward-Facing Dog, step your right foot forward and rise up into a High Lunge. The right knee is bent at a right angle and the left leg is reaching long and straight behind you. Reach your arms behind you and interlace the fingers. Move your pelvic bones down, as the heart rises up and opens. Lift your low belly and widen your collarbones. Gaze upward without jamming your neck and feel for the spacious of the rising heart energy. Spend 5 breaths here and then repeat on other side
